Since my friend and I decided to build our own RC plane, we have been frantically looking for places/shops to procure the parts and electronics. There is a dearth of local hobby shops in India catering to the Radio Control modeler.
Most online searches will lead you to manufacturers in China or Hobby Shops based out in America. The Chinese manufacturers offer affordable pricing, but the product details/specifications leave much to be desired. The American online stores offer precision build parts but the price is usually comparatively higher as well. The other obstacle is shipping costs and custom duties levied when the shipment (your plane or parts) enter India. The shipping costs to India ranges from $10 to $40 based on the weight of the merchandise and its delivery speed (EMS, Overnight, FedEx, etc).
We did some research on some Indian blogs and forums and were able to pull together the list of following vendors that are located in various cities of India. Some of these manufacture their own parts while others are suppliers and procure the parts/electronics for you from overseas sellers. I have NOT personally visited each of them and as such, DO NOT endorse one over the other. Please conduct your own due-diligence while making a large purchase.
